CADD Technician

As a CADD Technician, you will play a crucial role in our project development process. You will
collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to create accurate and detailed
drawings using industry-standard software. Your attention to detail and commitment to adhering
to engineering practices will contribute to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform AutoCAD drawing tasks as instructed by engineers and designers.
  • Prepare and maintain AutoCAD Civil 3D engineering drawings that comply with accepted
    engineering practices and standards.
  • Calculate design data, and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, and estimates.
  • Create maps, sketches, and diagrams related to utility operations, electric, gas, sanitary
    and water systems.
  • Visualize and illustrate concepts or designs in 2D or 3D.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with codes and company policies.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience in Technical, Drafting, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to drafting standards.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Junior Civil Engineer

We are seeking Junior Civil Engineers. Positions are available for engineers with experience from 0-5 years. Engineers will work on a broad range of engineering disciplines including, Highway and Drainage; Site Design; Coastal & Marine Design; Airport Design, Traffic Signal Design, Construction Inspection and Environmental Engineering & Permitting.

Requirements:

  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Microstation software
  • Experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or InRoads
  • Experience with Drainage Modeling
  • Valid Driver’s License & personal vehicle
  • EIT or PE License a plus

Survey Party Chief

As a Party Chief, you will play a crucial role in our project development process. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to create accurate and detailed drawings using industry-standard software. Your attention to detail and commitment to adhering to engineering practices will contribute to the success of our projects. 

Must Haves:

  • Minimum 5 years of land survey experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of Party Chief experience
  • Valid Driver’s License

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D a plus)
  • Familiarity with NYS Standards, survey codes and Bentley MicroStation products
  • Boat operator
  • Self-motivated, good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities: 

  • As a crew chief with LKMA, you will be leading a survey team for the development of base plans and surfaces for a variety of private and municipal projects
  • The party chief, working with a high degree of independence, will collect data as required in accordance with industry and client specifications, scopes of work, and work plans
  • Field tasks will include operating surveying instruments, collecting utility data, performing mathematical calculations, reading, and understanding plans, and other duties as assigned
  • Operate and maintain all field equipment including total station, GPS rover, data collectors, etc.
  • Take legible, detailed field notes and photographs
  • Work with a diverse team of project managers, engineers, designers, technical staff, and sub-consultants to successfully deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Provide mentorship and training of less experienced field staff
  • Candidate should be able provide technical survey assistance to CAD operators, project managers and designers
  • Must be willing and able to travel to project sites, client's offices, and other LKMA offices
  • Types of surveys include existing conditions, boundary, topographic, construction stakeout, bathymetric and control

Construction Inspector

We are seeking to add experienced Construction Inspectors with successful performance on NYSDOT, County and/or Town Roadway Improvement projects to our well-established Construction Inspection Team. Positions are available for Engineers with experience from 2-10 years. Upcoming construction projects are located in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Candidates should meet all of the following requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently registered with NICET and have reached the level of either NICET II, III or IV or be a PE in New York State.
  • All candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

The following experience is considered a plus:

  • Soils and Aggregate Certification and ACI Certification

Senior Traffic-Transportation Engineer/Transportation Planner

We are seeking a Senior Traffic/Transportation Engineer to work in its Hicksville, NY office, which is located in Nassau County, immediately adjacent to the Long Island Rail Road’s Hicksville station, 45 minutes from midtown Manhattan. LKMA provides traffic engineering services for municipal agencies ranging from Long Island Town and Village Highway Departments to the Nassau & Suffolk County Departments of Public Works, the NY State Department of Transportation and the Port Authority of NY and NJ.

Candidates should meet all of the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. An advanced degree in Transportation Planning is desirable.
    15 years’ minimum experience.
  • Experience in all aspects of Traffic Engineering & Transportation Planning, including completion of Traffic Impact Studies and Transportation Planning Studies for projects of all sizes.
  • Professional Engineer’s license.
  • Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer or Professional Transportation Planner (highly desirable).
  • Significant Project Management experience with multiple municipal agencies (experience with Port Authority of NY/NJ is a plus).
  • Excellent Verbal Skills, and Experience in Organizing and Conducting Public Outreach Meetings/Hearings.
  • Ability to Develop Proposals for Municipal Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning Projects

Mechanical Engineer

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks associated with mechanical engineering, and fire protection and HVAC system design projects in the Long Island and NYC area. The position will be based out of the LKMA Brookhaven Offices.

Must Haves:

  • BS - Mechanical Engineering
  • 5-10 years of professional mechanical engineering design experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE license or EIT certification is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP software
  • Working knowledge of energy modeling software such as Carrier’s HAP, Elite CHVAC, Energy Pro, or DOE’s EnergyPlus is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic calculation software such as AutoSPRINK is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Contract Drawings using Revit MEP and AutoCAD software.
  • Preparing commercial heating and cooling load calculations using energy modeling software.
  • Hydronic, domestic water, DWV, and Fuel Gas system layout and sizing.
  • Ductwork sizing and layout.
  • Preparing wet and dry fire sprinkler system hydraulic calculations.
  • Data collection and field measurements of existing field conditions.
  • Construction Cost Estimating.

Project Architect

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks associated with building design, historic restoration, and building renovation projects in the Long Island Area. The position will be based out of the LKMA Brookhaven Offices.

Must Haves:

  • BS in Architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years of architectural design experience.
  • Proficient in CAD software, Revit, and other industry-standard tools. Knowledge of sustainable design principles is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of building systems and architectural design.
  • Working knowledge of the Building Codes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RA license preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

Potential work tasks may include the following:

  • Preparation of Contract Drawings using Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Assist with design and development of architectural projects from concept to completion.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • Data collection and field measurements of existing field conditions.
  • Construction Cost Estimating.
