Project Summary
These projects were completed as part of Nassau County’s Environmental Bond Act.
HALL’S POND:
Project involves stormwater quality improvements for a 3,000 acre watershed, including a baffle system to collect floatables and oils, a vegetative filter and a proposed sediment basin. Proposed system was designed upstream of Hall’s Pond, located in West Hempstead. Project also included preparation of NYSDEC and Army Corps permit applications.
TACKAPAUSHA POND:
Project involves stormwater quality improvements at the pond and its surrounding preserve, which are located in Seaford and fed by a 625-acre watershed. The preferred alternative includes replacement of deteriorating channels with natural stone/boulder lined channels and reconstruction of an existing weir. Project also included preparation of NYSDEC and Army Corps permit applications.
